Silvia is a graduate from Cambridge College with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling. Silvia has worked in Brazil in Mental Health Counseling after completing her Masters at Maua University in Art Therapy in Brazil before coming to the United States in 2007. Silvia has worked with Children in Somerville for the Somerville Public Schools, she worked at the Greater Malden Behavioral Health Inc doing in-home therapy with children and their families, and at Healthy Families as a Family Support Advocate who is responsible for providing support, education, advocacy, service planning, referrals, and case management for pregnant and parenting teen families in the Healthy Families program. Silvia also volunteered for CHA in HIV/AIDS counseling & Testing program that was partnered with Massachusetts Department of Public Health in 2008 working with the Somerville and surrounding Communities.
Silvia has worked at Cambridge Health Alliance as part of an integrated behavioral health team as a mental health care partner where she provided both short and long-term therapy. Her expertise spans various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, trauma processing, behavioral activation, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing. She adopts a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating mind/body awareness techniques, self-compassion practices, and methods to enhance one's sense of self. A significant portion of Silvia's career has been dedicated to supporting and serving multiculteral populations as she is bi-cultural and trilingual as she is from Brazil and is also fluent in Spanish. Silvia has demonstrated a deep commitment to her clients and the community.
Silvia started her career in mental health as a facilitator in writing guidelines to help the "children of the Streets" with a non-profit who's goal was to educate the parents of the children of the streets in 1999. Silvia became a teacher of the Arts in 2003 and used Art to reach out to all children and their cultures. Art is a human creation with aesthetic values (beauty, balance, harmony, anger) that synthesize their emotions, their history, their feelings and their culture. It is a set of procedures used to carry out works, in which we apply our knowledge to help the children reach their potential. This lead Silvia to receive her Masters in Art Therapy starting in 2006 and work Integrated Art Therapy in the fields of human development, visual art (drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms), and proceed with models of counseling and psychotherapy. Art therapy was used with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, groups, and families to assess and treat the following; anxiety, depression, and other mental and emotional problems and disorders; substance abuse and other addictions: family and relationship issues; abuse and domestic violence; social and emotional difficulties related to disability and illness; trauma and loss; physical, cognitive, and neurological problems; and psychosocial difficulties related to medical illness.

HMO plans, do not cover OON services.
Examples of insurance plans (PPO/POS) that cover OON therapy for our clients:
Out-of-network PPO/POS plans typically reimburse clients for 50-80% of session costs, with some plans covering 100% of the costs.
For OON plans, we have a service that will submit claims for you. For OON clients, if you prefer superbills, we can also provide those as well.
If you decide to not use your insurance, there is the option of private pay. With this option, there are no insurance companies that will require a diagnosis, assess for the “medical necessity” of your therapy, or determine the frequency or duration of treatment. Prior to treatment, you will also receive a “Good Faith Estimate”, which includes the total cost of services.
Assessment (60 min): $235-290
Therapy (50-55 min): $220-260

Your sessions may be covered by insurance.
If your insurance plan only covers a portion of the fee or not at all, or if you want to opt out of using insurance, you can also use a Health Saving Account or Flexible Spending Account (HSA/FSA) to cover session fees.
I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I don't accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. I have partnered with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you. With Thrizer, you will only have to pay a copay for our sessions, instead of paying my full fee and waiting for reimbursements. This typically allows clients to save on average 70% upfront on our sessions. I can help you verify if you have out-of-network benefits and how much your copay would be, just send an email today.
We are a virtual clinic and see all of our clients on our secure portal, so please drop us a line for your first appointment.
